How can I tell which religion is best?

Multitudes of people are confused about religion. Why? Because there are so many religions to choose from. Choosing just one is a hard task. Someone interested in spirituality must feel like a 4 year old in a 101-flavors ice cream store: there are far too many to pick from, and they're not sure which one they would like best. Without using some standard criteria, making a choice is impossible.

I think we should establish some criteria. To start, determine the criteria you would use to compare religions by completing the following questions:

1.  What religion or belief are you currently?

Protestant Christian (Presbyterian, Baptist, Methodist, etc.)
Roman Catholic
Hebrew / Judaic
Islamic
Buddhist
Hindu
Mormon
Jehovah's Witness
Deist (simply believes in God's existence)
Occult (witchcraft, astrology, etc.)
Atheism / Agnosticism / Humanism
Other:

2.  Some people say that all religions are just different means to the same end. Do you think this could be true?

Yes
No

3.  Do you think it is possible for one religion to be inherently more correct (contains more truth) than another?

Yes
No

4.  Many religions claim to provide a means to get to Heaven. Do you believe more than one religion can provide a means to salvation?

Yes
No

5.  Some religions claim to be the only right religion. Do you think it is possible that one religion is right and all of the others are wrong?

Yes
No

6.  Many religions have holy writings. If you were to judge a religion's collection of writings, what criteria would be important to you? (check all that apply)

Historically accurate (people, places, and events are verifiable)
Ancient copies of the manuscripts (from archaeological finds) match present-day manuscripts
Explains itself (reinforces main ideas and provides insight by cross-referencing itself)
Does not contradict itself in any way (all parts are in agreement with each other, even if from different authors)
Prophetically accurate (prophecies fulfilled clearly enough to prove that they are not coincidental)

7.  If you were to judge a religion overall, which factors would be important to you? (check all that apply)

Holy writings match your criteria from the previous question
It has a clear positive effect on its body of believers (actual believers, not just attendees)
It teaches love and kindness as a way of life
There is documented evidence to prove there is supernatural power in the religion (some form of miracles)
