My Old Theory

I remember debating evolutionary theory versus Biblical Creationism in high school.  I wasn't actually a Christian at the time, but I believed in God and had at least a little bit of reverence for the Bible.  One of my teachers asked the class if it was possible to reconcile the two views.

I had in mind a sort of quasi-Biblical idea.  I raised my hand and told the class something like, "Doesn't the Bible say that to God, a thousand years is like a day to Him?  Maybe the first seven days are seven eras.  Maybe He made evolution happen over that time.  Maybe when apes evolved enough, He put a soul into one and named him Adam."

It seemed like a perfectly acceptable theory.  Nice and diplomatic.  Everybody should be happy with that.  Evolutionists would be happy with the compromised position that evolution happened, and Creationists would be happy to agree that God at least put everything in motion.  A lot of people agreed with my idea, so what's the harm in believing it?

Now I Know Better

I had no idea what I was talking about.  I didn't realize the problem was much bigger than that.  First of all, my theory wouldn't work.  Both plain Darwinian evolution and my little theory don't match the Bible.  The Bible doesn't give room for evolution theory.  You have to accept one theory or the other - Evolution or Creation.

Why can't the quasi-Creation story work?  There are lots of reasons.  Just a few of them:

• The Bible insists that the Creation was completed in 6 normal 24-hour days like we currently experience.  It keeps saying things like, "for in 6 days the Lord made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day."  (Exodus 20:11, Exodus 31:17, etc)
• If the 6 days were really eras, there would be a host of problems.  For example, God created all plant life on the third day, and the sun and moon on the fourth day.  If each "day" were 10 million years, those plants would have a hard time waiting for the sun to come up.
• There was no death in the world until Adam sinned.  The Bible says that death is the result of sin. (Romans 5:12)  If evolution is true, death was in the world long before Adam.  
• The Bible says that death is an enemy.  If evolution is true, death and suffering were part of God's original perfect Creation that He called "very good." (Genesis 1:31)  That doesn't make sense.
• The Bible insists that all animals "bring forth after their own kind," not leaving room for macro-evolution. (Genesis 1)  It's a solid fact that dogs produce dogs, and cats produce cats.  Lizards don't produce birds, and apes don't produce humans.  There are no exceptions, living or fossilized.

Where's the Evidence?

I grew up believing in evolution only because it was in the textbooks.  Because it was in my textbooks, I assumed that the theory of evolution was a proven fact.  I didn't know that evolution is merely a theory and nothing more.

There is no empirical evidence supporting evolution.  You don't have to take my word for it, or that of Creationists.  Serious evolutionists are completely aware of it and make no apologies.  For example, evolutionist Arthur Keith wrote the forward for the 100th anniversary printing of Darwin's book.  He writes, "Evolution is unproved and unprovable.  We believe it only because the only alternative is special creation which is unthinkable."  Any well-versed evolutionist will tell you that they have no evidence.  They only promote their theory because they're offended at the idea of Creation.  They want God out of the picture.

What about all the proof in textbooks?  I remember learning various "evidences" of evolution in my science classes.  They don't tell the students that all of them were proven wrong years ago.  In a debate, Dr. Kent Hovind went through 15 or 20 examples of false "evidence" for evolution in textbooks.  His opponent admitted outright that all of the "evidences" were proven to be incorrect or even outright frauds.

Bones of Contention

In his book, Origin of the Species, Darwin stated, "If my theory be true, numberless intermediate varieties must assuredly have existed."  According to the "father of evolution," there should be many transitional fossils in the fossil record.  Ever since then, evolutionists have been desperate to find a missing link between man and apes.

I remember being taught that several missing links have been found.  Unfortunately, the textbook writers and I were duped.  Numerous times people have announced a "missing link," and their discoveries have been widely announced.  Then later, the "discoveries" turned out to be false.  Unfortunately, the corrections have not been so widely announced.  The corrections do get published, but not announced to the world with the same enthusiasm as the original "discoveries."

Let's take a look at Evolution's Hall of Shame:

• Nebraska Man - The only evidence ever found was one tooth.  The discoverer found a tooth that he thought looked like a cross between a human tooth and an ape's tooth.  They built a full half-human half-ape model, and even built him a wife.  You have to be good to know what his wife looks like from the shape of his tooth, but who are we to question a scientist?  Of course, later they figured out that the tooth came from a pig.  Allow me to present the real Nebraska Man on your right.
• Piltdown Man - Piltdown Man was a deliberate fraud.  A paleontologist and Catholic priest named Pierre Teilhard de Chardin took a human skull and an ape's jawbone, filed them down to fit together, treated them with acid to make them look old, and buried them in a gravel pit.  He later "discovered" the missing link.  The truth about the incident was released 40 years later.  During the 40 years before the fraud was uncovered, 500 masters and doctorate papers were written on Piltdown Man.
• Neanderthal Man - In 1856, someone discovered a skeleton with its back bent over.  It was initially believed to be a normal human who had died in the great flood.  In 1859, Darwin's book was published, and people began looking for evidence of evolution.  Because man walks on 2 legs and apes walk on 4, and this man's back was bent, they thought "this man is evolving.  He's slowly coming up."  No, it was later proven that it was the skeleton of an old man with arthritis.  He's slowly going down.
• Peking Man - After WW2, all evidence has disappeared.  Crushed monkey skull bones were found in a cave along with tools.  Scientists concluded, "Wow!  These monkeys must be making tools."  Of course, did they ever stop to think that someone is using these tools on these monkeys?  Monkey brains are a delicacy in some countries, after all.  They also didn't bother to announce that 10 human skeletons were found in the same area.
• Homo Erectus (Java Man) - Made from a few scraps of bone found in 1891 in Java, Indonesia.  Dutch anatomist Dr. Dubois believed in evolution and had gone in search of a missing link.  He took an ape's skull cap, three human teeth and a human thigh bone (found a year later and 50 feet away) and announced his find as a missing link.  He hid the fact that he found 2 normal human skulls in the same area.  His deceit was revealed 30 years later, but the "missing link" still appears in some textbooks today.
• Lucy (Australopithecus afarensis) - Donald Johanson found Lucy in the Hadar Valley, Ethiopia in 1974.  He found 40% of a skeleton, the most complete "missing link" skeleton ever found.  It was obviously the skeleton of a chimp or monkey, roughly 3 feet tall.  The skull was crushed.  No hand or foot bones were found.  The only reason he thought it was a missing link is that the thigh bone angled off to the side, similar to a human's.  A normal ape's thigh bone doesn't angle like a human's.  However, tree-climbing monkeys do have angled thigh bones.  Furthermore, the leg bone was found a year earlier, 200 feet deeper in a different rock layer, over a mile away.  Unless a train hit Lucy at 400 mph, that's not part of Lucy.  Here it is, folks, the most complete missing link found:

What About the Transitions?

Dr. Patterson is an authority on evolution and wrote the book Evolution for the British Museum of Natural History (who owns one of the largest fossil collections in the world).  His book supported the idea of Darwinian evolution, based on the idea of gradual changes and transitions.

One reader of Evolution wrote a letter to Dr. Patterson, asking him basically, "where are the transitions?  Why didn't you include any photos or diagrams of transitional fossils?"  Dr. Patterson replied, "If I knew of any, fossil or living, I would certainly have included them...  I will lay it on the line - there is not one such fossil..."  He admits, "It is easy enough to make up stories of how one form gave rise to another...  But such stories are not part of science, for there is no way of putting them to the test."

There is no fossil record of any animals producing different animals.  The fossil record shows everything to be exactly like it was since Creation started:  dogs produce dogs, cats produce cats, and people produce people.  

Just the Tip of the Iceberg

There are other giant problems with evolution.  Here are just a few:

• No animal has ever been observed producing a different kind of animal.  Why can it happen "long ago and far away," but not now?
• There are no transitions in the fossil record, when Darwin himself claimed there should be thousands if not millions of them.  Where is the fossil evidence?
• Transitional creatures couldn't survive.  On your car, what good is half of a wheel?  What good is half of a motor?  On an animal, what good is a half of a leg or half of a wing?  The animal can't fly, and it can't walk.  Another example:  Hemophilia is a genetic disorder that results in uncontrollable bleeding due to a missing component of the blood clotting system.  Without a complete, perfectly functional clotting system, many animals would bleed to death.  Partially-evolved clotting systems would be useless.
• Where did all the transitions find a wife?  All animals need male and female sexes to survive.  A lone male or lone female is useless.  Two of them, a 100% compatible male and female must evolve in the same place, at the same time, and be interested in each other.  You don't need a statistician to tell you the odds.
• There are many evidences that directly contradict evolutionary theory.  One is the Dinosaur Valley State Park, where dinosaur and human footprints were found side by side in the same limestone layer.  Some skeptics thought it was a fraud, so they went back to the site and carved out more limestone along the same trail, and found more footprints in perfect stride - dinosaur and human together.  Other evidences include the Ica stones (from Ica, Peru).  On over 50,000 stones (each thousands of years old) there are pictured every major dinosaur with humans together.  Circular patterns drawn on the dinosaurs' skin match patterns on recently found preserved dinosaur skin.  The ancient artists must have seen live dinosaurs to know what their skin looked like.
• Evolutionists agree with Creationists that there is a serious lack of evidence for evolution.

How Did It Get There?

If the evolution theory is false, how did it end up in our textbooks?  Why is it so widely promoted if it can't be proven?

As surprising as it may seem to you, it was actually illegal to teach evolution in many schools in the 20th century.  In contrast, there has never been a law against teaching Creation in school.  Teachers cannot try to convert students, but it is 100% legal to teach Creation science in all 50 states.  Of course, the ACLU likes to threaten schools that teach Creation, so many schools have backed off and won't let their teachers do so, even though it is perfectly legal.

In 1959, the 100th anniversary of Darwin's book, some atheists were disturbed that evolution theory was not being included in schools.  Many textbooks didn't include evolution at all, or maybe up to 3,000 words on the topic.  That year, they got together and lobbied the government to have government-sponsored textbooks.  Right away, evolution content jumped to an average of 33,000 words.

In 1963, prayer was taken out of schools.  Schools that once had plaques with the Ten Commandments took them down.  Life in America since that decade has changed significantly, and certainly not for the better.

Violent crime has increased 995% over the population growth since 1963.¹  Some sexually transmitted diseases have increased nearly 400%.²  Pregnancies of unwed school-aged girls have increased 553% (and most are being aborted).³  Unmarried couples living together have increased 725%.⁴  Divorce rates have jumped.  Now 57% of marriages end in divorce.  What's going on?

We are teaching students that they're nothing but animals.  Because of that, a lot of kids act like animals.  We tell them there are no moral absolutes, and there is no way to define right and wrong.  Then when they do something wrong, we tell them, "You shouldn't do that!"  They answer, "Why not?  Says who?"  If humans are nothing more than grown-up amoebas, why should they care about any man-made rules?  

Where Did It Come From?

The theory of evolution has grown due to the efforts of atheists, agnostics, humanists, and communists.  The main purpose of the theory is to explain how we could have arrived here without a Creator.  Evolution theory comes from a desire to remove God from the big picture.  "Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools." (Romans 1:22)  They rattle off science-babble, denying the one true Deity, and worshipping "mother earth."  They "changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator." (Romans 1:25)

Still Not Convinced?

Here's your big chance!  Dr. Kent Hovind is offering $250,000 to "anyone who can give any empirical evidence (scientific proof) for evolution."  Any evidence presented will be reviewed by a fair scientific panel, and the money will be awarded if the evidence is valid.

Do you think the scientific panel is biased?  Not to worry!  If you present valid evidence and they don't come through with the money, you can sue.  It is a public offer, so they cannot back out if your evidence is valid.

What Should You Do? 

Find out the facts, and pick a side.  If Jesus really is the Son of God, then it would be in your best interest to find out what He wants from you.  There are a lot of facts proving He is the Son of God, so you ought to look into them before brushing off Christianity as "blind faith."
